The KU Blockchain Institute, a student-led organization focused on making Lawrence the technology hub of the Midwest through the interdisciplinary research, education, and development of blockchain technologies at KU, will host a Cybersecurity Conference at the Oread Hotel on October 18th from 9:00am-3:00pm. As a student-led technology institute supported through KU’s recent entrance into the University Blockchain Research Initiative, the Institute regularly hosts cutting-edge interdisciplinary conferences focused on how real world use-cases of emerging technologies are making our global society more dependable, trustworthy, and secure. This will be their second conference of the year, following a Digital Finance Conference on April 5th, 2019.

To further the organization’s objectives relating to the education of blockchain technologies, the Institute hosts outstanding speakers that are leading their respective industries in the blockchain or emerging technologies space. They regularly host executives from various industries, remarkable alumni, and entrepreneurs in the technology space. For this event, the Institute and the Kansas City Roundtable of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals have partnered to demonstrate the importance of cybersecurity and risk management to local business leaders.

The conference will explore cutting edge use-cases of new technologies that involve digital identity management, supply chain resilience, and the future of digital payments. It will inform the audience about digital ecosystems, trustworthy data structures, emerging technologies, and the increasing role cyber-attacks are playing in our global society.
